MAKE 2010 YOUR YEAR OF DISCOVERY AT WINE ODYSSEY

Rob Geddes, Master of Wine and best selling author of “A Good Nose and Great Legs” as well as the Australian Wine Goldbook series is resident wine guru and educator at Wine Odyssey. Rob has created an exciting program of classes and special tastings for 2010 offering a range of unique wine experiences to suit new and seasoned wine lovers.

Wine Odyssey will be offering introductory and more advanced courses with Rob Geddes – each level to run over a four week period from 6.30pm-8pm on a Tuesday or Wednesday and repeated during the year.

Stage One: Introduction to Wine Appreciation with Rob Geddes
Wine Education kicks off with a 4 week introductory course on Wednesdays from February 3rd to February 24th. The course will introduce you to the fundamentals behind the making of good wines – the terroir, the varietals, the wine making process and the wonderful sensory journey of wine appreciation. Rob Geddes is a great raconteur and weaves many tales from his life as a wine judge, author and wine lover into the classes. The classes are relaxed and interactive and help demystify some of the secrets of the vines. In addition to tasting an array of white, rose and red wines Rob takes the class on a journey through the Wine Odyssey Aroma room – the only wine aroma room in Australia – enhancing the appreciation experience by sampling from 50 different wine aromas found in Australian wines.

Stage two: Perfecting the Palate with more Advanced Wine Appreciation
Take your wine appreciation to the next level with our Advanced course which kicks off in April on Tuesdays from April 13th to May 4th. The 'Advanced' course provides an opportunity to continue to explore and enhance your own wine preferences by tasting and discussing some of the subtle differences within varietals and across regions and vintages. Rob takes you further along the wine appreciation journey and invites you to continue to define your own palate. Try some rare wines from Rob’s cellar and some of the newest independent winery medal winners from Wine Odyssey’s award winning wine list. It is not a pre requisite to have attended our intro course...it’s more about allowing your interest and curiosity to guide you to whatever level of enquiry appeals to your wine instinct!

Members: $250 for 4 week course, Non members: $275 for four week course

Advanced Wine Appreciation
Members: $275 for 4 week course, Non members: $300 for a 4 week course

Have you ever wondered what it was like to have the tempting task of being a wine judge? – of tackling a row of glasses lined up in front of you for swirling, sniffing, sipping and to rate each wine on a whole range of dimensions and to come up with a verdict which could make or break the wine maker’s reputation? Here’s your chance to play God of wine! Rob Geddes regularly judges wines in Australia and internationally and has had many requests from wine lovers to share the secrets of wine judging. So due to popular demand we will hold our inaugural judging class on February 11th.
