Product description:
2005 Lamont's Cabernet Sauvignon.
Encouraged by Corin Lamont's late father, legendary Jack Mann, the winery was established in 1978 in the Swan Valley by Corin and Neil Lamont and is still family owned and operated.
From those small and quite modest beginnings Lamont's has built a brand based on premium and super premium wines.
Jack Mann Jack espoused throughout his long and happy life the view that nature made wine, not man. 'Winemaking is entirely a natural process. Nature is the winemaker and man, if he is skilled, gives nature the opportunity to perform to best advantage. That is the art of winemaking.'
Today sisters Kate and Fiona Lamont personally oversee a wine and food business that encompasses a 10,000 case winery, sourcing grapes from 3 viticultural regions (Swan Valley, Margaret River and Frankland River), two cellar doors (Margaret River and Swan Valley) a CBD restaurant (East Perth), and a beautiful lakeside winery restaurant at Yallingup (Margaret River wine region).
Digby Leddin joined Lamont's in 1996 and in 2002 Digby assumed full winemaking responsibilities.
Lamont's classic, handcrafted cabernet is made from low yielding, dry grown Margaret River fruit.
The fruit was hand harvested and crushed into open fermenters where it underwent a two day cold soak before an eight day alcoholic fermentation on skins. The wine was inoculated for malolactic fermentation and matured in 40% new (Seguin Moreau, Vicard) and 60% second use (Nadalie Marsannay) French oak barriques for 24 months.Region: Margaret River WA Cellaring: Drink now to 2011.
